Interpower Cord Clips Help Take Up the Slack

Hello,

cord-clips-300x300While there is a small universe of resin compounds or “recipes” readily available (UL Website), sometimes finding the perfect resin with the right additives for a product is challenging, especially when resin compounds must contain nonresinous material. The recently released Interpower Cord Clip, which can be molded onto 3x18 AWG cords as well as the 3x18 VCT-F Japanese cords, is constructed of a glass-reinforced Polypropylene resin compound to ensure molding consistency and optimal retention.

The clip is set at a convenient 4.75 inches behind the plug unless otherwise specified by the customer. Customers can order the clip to be molded onto the cord farther away from the plug for specialized applications. The 4.75 location was chosen as an optimal distance after much experimentation and testing. The clips come in gray and black and are made in the U.S.A.

Winders-Mike “To strike a balance between cord retention strength and ease of insertion force,” said Mike Winders, Interpower Product Development Specialist, “we utilized customer surveys to determine the correct material and product design that would meet their needs.”

Cord clips are perfect for clipping excess cord to prevent injuries caused by tripping over excess cord, and can reduce hand, arm, and back stress from constantly pulling and holding excess cord. It also extends the life of the cord by keeping it away from tools and machinery, and can preserve the housing of the cord by allowing less surface drag. It also minimizes the chance of excess cord catching on objects and surfaces, which may cause disconnection or bent plug blades.

The cord clip resin is considered a stable thermoplastic with no chemical reactivity under normal ambient or anticipated temperatures and pressures. This Material is not Hazardous by OSHA Hazardous Communication Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200, and is not an RCRA hazardous waste compounded resin. The clip is not subject to California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (Proposition 65) reporting, and is not classified as a carcinogen to humans. Ignition Temperature of the thermoplastic is estimated at 650 °F.

Interpower cord clips can be used in a wide range of markets such as Industrial, Information Technology, Appliance, Medical, Food Service—anywhere excess cable could pose an issue or a danger.
